Who was Mohammad Ali?

Muhammad Ali was an American professional boxer and social activist whose nicknamed was “The Greatest” and widely recognized as one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time and one of the most
important sports personality of the 20th century. He was born on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky named as Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.  and later changed his name to Muhammad Ali after converting to Islam in 1961. He won many gold medal in light heavyweight and heavyweight championship. He won a gold medal in 1960 in light heavyweight category Summer Olympics (Rome). He became the world heavyweight champion in 1964 by defeating Sonny Liston. 

He retired from boxing in 1981 with a record of 56 wins out of which 37 by knockout and 5 losses. He died on June 3, 2016 at the age of 74 and remained a humanitarian and global icon.
